Light is the Theme, Louis Khan

A master, a reference
Louis I. Kahn (1901–1974), an American architect born in Estonia in 1901, is considered one of the greatest architects of the 20th century. Despite the significance and diversity of his constructions, he never abandoned teaching, lectures, or his "conversations." In this book, where his words have been transcribed into free verse, he explores the fundamental themes that would define his work: light, volumes, spaces and their connections, programming, and materials.
The presence of Louis Isadore Kahn is almost tangible, his voice resonating as he asks the brick what it wants, and it replies: "I like an arch."
Or again: "If I were to think of doing something other than architecture, it would be writing a new fairy tale, because from fairy tales came the airplane, the locomotive, and the marvelous instruments of the mind… everything was born from wonder."
