Winner of the competition for the new nursing home in Perray-Vaucluse

Alongside Richez_Associés and Agence Catherine Dormoy, our proposal was selected for the construction of a 96-bed EHPAD on the Perray-Vaucluse site, for the Paris Psychiatry & Neurosciences GHU.
The project, located close to a listed wood with preserved trees, is based on an architecture at one with nature. An architecture-landscape designed to care, live and connect.
Inauguration of the Chamber of Notaries

After two years of renovation, the Paris Chamber of Notaries, located on Place du Châtelet, has been inaugurated.
This major transformation, led by Atelier Senzu, has breathed new life and coherence into this iconic 1855 building, adapting it to contemporary notarial practices. Atelier Franck Boutté was responsible for the environmental approach, with a strategy based on enhancing the intrinsic qualities of the building.

On the Pierre and Marie Curie campus (formerly Jussieu), in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, the building stands out with its fan-shaped façades inclined up to 18° and a light-filled conical atrium. Its architecture, designed by BIG and Oxo, fits into a dense urban site while innovating through a hybrid concrete-steel structure and a green roof with views of Notre-Dame, conceived as a space for work and relaxation.

Great Debate on “The Fabric of Our Cities”

From March to July 2023, Nantes Métropole launched the “Great Debate” on the “Fabric of Our Cities. Let’s Invent Tomorrow’s World Together” (in French: Fabrique de nos villes. Ensemble, inventons la vie de demain) to gather the opinions of residents of the metropolitan area’s 24 communes on how to build and inhabit our cities of tomorrow. All the proposals were put under the microscope and summarized in a report published last November. Since then, the metropolitan area’s councilors have analyzed and debated the issues raised by the “Great Debate”. This analysis phase culminated in a collective roadmap presented on April 18. Franck attended the event to talk about his interpretation of the roadmap.

As part of the POWER exhibition at Civa in Brussels, the microclimatic approach to the design of the square in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris was put under the spotlight. Its aim is to strengthen the region’s capacity to adapt to climate change. They called on Franck Boutté as a key witness to provide his environmental expertise during a series of four seminars aimed at regional elected officials.

Places du Grand Paris is the outcome of a three-year study, commissioned by Société du Grand Paris and Île-de-France Mobilités and carried out by a team of designers, researchers, and scientists. The book serves as a guide to designing public spaces, with the aim of fostering a common culture around these spaces. It has been designed for owners and designers of public spaces at the 68 future stations of the Grand Paris Express, to help them steer, program, design and manage these spaces.

Franck Boutté gave the opening speech at the 24th International Urban Planning Conference organized by APERAU (Association for the Promotion of Education and Research in Urban Planning and Development).
Pandemics, climate crisis, heatwaves, energy crisis, migrations... crises in all their forms are backing us into taking a hyperrealist approach to ecological issues, a brutal baptism of fire that compels us individually and collectively to take action, by way of a combination of mitigation and adaptation strategies.


French Civil Engineering Congress

Matteo Migliari, a doctoral student at the studio, spoke at the French Civil Engineering Congress held at the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay.
In relation to the congress theme, “Cities of the Future and Climate Change”, he gave a presentation about the characterization of the microclimatic and biometeorological behavior of multilayer soil complexes for different surface materials.
Adaptation to climate change requires us to study each construction material; here, our study focused on the strata of materials that make up the ground in urban environments used by pedestrians and vehicles. The results obtained enabled us to characterize the impact of each type of ground covering on the urban heat island effect and on individual thermal comfort.

Winner of the Ecorces Program in Niort

We are officially winners of Block J2 in the Prairie au Duc district on Ile de Nantes!
The project, which proposes programs of offices, housing, and retail split between 6 buildings from R+2 to R+9, was presented on March 9 and 10 at the Urban Projects Forum in Nantes.

In December, Franck Boutté was awarded the Grand Prix de l’Urbanisme (Urban Planning Prize) 2022.

First National Straw Construction Congress in Poitiers

As part of its efforts to promote the use of bio-based materials in its projects, Atelier Franck Boutté attended the first National Straw Construction Congress (Congrès National de la Construction Paille), held in Poitiers, France on February 9-11. This was an opportunity to talk to a number of actors in the sector, and to find out about how it intersects with the RE2020, costs, and regulatory issues.

FAIRE 2021: “Earth Esthetic and Performance”

Our “Earth Esthetic and Performance” research project, carried out throughout the year as part of the call for proposals launched by FAIRE 2021, run by the Pavillon de l’Arsenal, has now come to an end. The aim of this experiment was to examine the architectural design and thermal and environmental performance of compressed earth blocks (CEB).
The results of this project, which merit more in-depth and extensive studies in the long term, are very clear as regards the properties offered by CEB, which provide greater hygroregulation, energy, and carbon gains compared with plaster partition walls and concrete.

Grand Prix de l’Urbanisme 2022, Ceremony

On December 12, 2022, Franck Boutté received the Grand Prix de l’Urbanisme (Urban Planning Prize) at the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris, awarded by Olivier Klein, Minister with Special Responsibility for the City and Housing.
It was a day of fascinating sessions, and we were delighted and proud to share it with city stakeholders and guests involved in the round tables devised by Franck with Ariella Masboungi (winner of the GPU 2016).
