Winner of the competition HEC Campus!
Jouy-en-Josas, 02.07.2025
Atelier Franck Boutté is participating in the ambitious transformation of the HEC Paris campus in Jouy-en-Josas. Alongside Snøhetta, NeM / Niney and Marca Architectes, Agence Pierre-Antoine Gatier, RF Studio, and in partnership with Sogelym Dixence and Linkcity, we are contributing to a project that combines educational innovation, sustainability, and heritage enhancement.
The goal is to design an exemplary campus—sustainable, comfortable, and low-carbon—without compromising on quality of use or architectural standards.
Three pillars structure this transformation:
- The creation of a new campus center connected to the historic building, integrating a library, innovation spaces, lecture halls, an 850-seat auditorium, an agora, and dining areas;
- The reconstruction and complete renovation of the common areas and their outbuildings;
- The complete renovation of the academic building, directly connected to the new campus center.
Atelier Franck Boutté is implementing a comprehensive mitigation and adaptation strategy to ensure that the project is part of an ambitious and sustainable climate response.
The project's environmental commitments:
- Reduced carbon impact despite the scale of the project:
- +40% of built area, but a net reduction in emissions
- 2,000 tons of bio- and geo-sourced materials
- Up to 40% of integrated renewable energy
- Guaranteed passive thermal comfort: buildings without air conditioning, comfortable more than 95% of the time according to projections for 2050;
- A campus that restores natural ecosystems: 30,000 m² of impervious surfaces removed, 696 trees planted, creation of microclimates and restoration of the water cycle.
The materials used in the project—raw earth, solid wood, local stone—are designed as a strategy in their own right. The heart of the campus will become a showcase for frugality, a living space that is naturally lit, ventilated, and designed to last.
The project is aiming for the highest environmental certifications: BREEAM “Excellent,” BBCA (Low Carbon Building), BiodiverCity “Excellent.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2026, with delivery in the summer of 2031.
We thank HEC Paris for their trust and are proud to be part of this collective adventure.
