Inauguration of the Chamber of Notaries

Paris, 09.04.2025

Chambre des Notaires A coloriser

After two years of renovation, the Chamber of Notaries of Paris, located on Place du Châtelet, has been inaugurated. The evening was marked by the presence of the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Gerald Darmanin, alongside Pierre Tarrade, President of the Chamber, and Sophie Thibert-Belaman, 1st Vice-President of the Chamber.

This major transformation, led by L'Atelier Senzu with Lagneau Architectes (heritage), has breathed new life and coherence into this iconic 1855 building, adapting it to contemporary notarial practices. L'Atelier Franck Boutté was in charge of the environmental approach with a strategy based on enhancing the intrinsic qualities of the building.

The solid stone walls were preserved for their inertia and reinforced with a lime-hemp plaster that improves comfort while allowing the walls to breathe. The central patio has been redesigned to become a veritable well of light and an island of freshness, bringing natural light and ventilation to the workspaces. A system of thermal curtains regulates the amount of light entering the building according to the season. Finally, a reuse approach has made it possible to recycle several materials that were removed, including stone blocks.

Everything has been designed to combine user comfort, environmental performance, and respect for heritage. For an institution rooted in history and looking to the future.

Thank you to the Paris Chamber of Notaries for their trust and to our collaborators for this magnificent project.
