Energy at the heart of the urban project
Book

Published in 2014, at a time when awareness was less heightened and in a context of ever-increasing energy demand, despite the efforts made to save energy, this work takes stock of the production, distribution and consumption of energy, both renewable and non-renewable. Combining subjects that are usually treated separately - energy, urban planning and regional planning - it argues for the invention of a form of urban planning organized around the question of energy and for the pooling of different forms of energy with a view to better overall performance. With the support of numerous French and international examples of urban projects, city policies and utopias, this book also presents the evolution of the interplay of the actors and the transition from a strong centralization of energy management to a more contextual and local approach. Urban designers, researchers and eminent actors working on the energy/city link make up a book with multiple voices, a true guide for action. The aim is to make knowledge that is easy to implement accessible to non-specialists and thus open up future prospects.
This book was written by Ariella Masboungi with the assistance of Urban Act / Alexandre Bouton, L'Atelier Franck Boutté, Florian Dupont and Antoine Petitjean and was published in the “Ville aménagement” collection by Editions du Moniteur in 2014.
