The first volume of the collection “La ville en train de se faire” is the result of a program conducted by the Platform for the Observation of Urban Projects and Strategies (Popsu) in seven major French cities: Nantes, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Montpellier, Marseille and Toulouse.

By collaborating with local actors and teams of researchers, this comparative analysis explores the mechanisms of urban projects and strategies, aiming to understand the evolution of urbanized space at the beginning of the 21st century. The five main themes of the study - sustainable development, economic development, housing, governance and urban forms - also structure the content of the book. This general title serves as an introduction to a series of seven specific works dedicated to each city participating in the program, thus offering an overview of urban policies and local issues.
