Written by Christine Desmoulins, Christophe Catsaros, Philippe Van de Maele, and Pierre-Paul Zalio, and packed with testimonials, the book Bâtir : L'École Normale Supérieure Paris - Saclay: Renzo Piano Building Workshop looks back at the construction process and various aspects of the project, in which the environment was the beating heart of the architectural design. Franck Boutté says:

“With this figure, we are designing a form that doesn’t depend on context for its existence. We recreate the outside world inside, all the better to control it, make the elements, wind and water, our allies, and so master comfort. At the same time, the team feels that the enclosed figure doesn’t have to be closed. It needs to be able to open up to the city in the future, when the city arrives.”

By adopting an approach focused on sustainability, our studio designed an innovative bioclimatic structure, incorporating elements such as natural ventilation, solar panels, and rainwater storage. Our iterative methodology, rooted in a meticulous analysis of the environment and climate, ensured the optimum use of available resources, while providing unrivalled comfort for occupants.

Well done to Renzo Piano Building Workshop for this beautiful book and to its publisher, Archibooks.
